English: Utladalen Protected Landscape area goes through the mountains around Fannaråken, Smørstabbtindane and Rauddalen in West Jotunheimen. Waterfalls plunges several stages into the mainstream,eg. Vettisfossen with a free fall of 275 meters.
The purpose of the landscape conservation area is to protect a wild and beautiful western landscape with natural surroundings and cultural heritage in connection with the Jotunheimen National Park. The area is suitable for agriculture, outdoor activities, hunting and fishing. The forest is influenced by fluorinated pollutants from Øvre Årdal.
