A Douglas AD-5W Skyraider of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 12 (VAW-12) Det.48 "Bats" is visible in the foreground. Both squadrons were assigned to Carrier Anti-Submarine Air Group 52 (CVSG-52) aboard the Wasp for a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea from 9 June to 1 September 1961. |
