Description

c/n 2757 US Navy Bureau No 85938. Sold off from the military in 1957/58, she became part of Sonora Flying services tanker fleet. Fitted with a 400 gallon retardant tank, she flew as ‘Tanker 61’ until joining Sierra Aviation as ‘Tanker E44’. In 1976 she was converted for insecticide spraying and remained as such until 1990. She was then restored to original military condition, flying again as such in 1996. Since 2012 she has been owned and operated by the Houston based Texas Flying Legends Museum and is seen on display in the hangars of the Lone Star Flight Museum at their previous home in Galveston, Texas, United States.
