English: Gun Gallery of Ganju Lama War Museum inside Watershed Martyr's Memorial premises at Sherathang near Nathu La, East Sikkim. The museum was completed on 29th June 2016. It houses many information about various personalities and events along with a Gun gallery.
The Watershed Martyr's Memorial premises at Sherathang was built to commemorate the Indian Army's martyrs and war heroes of 1967 Nathu La and Cho La clashes. The Memorial was completed in 15th February 2008. Apart from the War Memorial, in the premises there is a 100 mm gun of Russian Origin which took a vital part against Pakistani tanks during the 1971, The Ganju Lama War Museum, and several memorial plaques in the name of brave soldiers of India who laid their lives in defence of the Indian state of Sikkim and soldiers of Sikkim orogin who have fought valiantly in other parts of the country. In the Gun Gallery from the top are :- A. RIF NO 1 MK III (NORMAL BUTT) Rif No 1 Mk-II (normal butt) originated in the United Kingdom. It was designed by James Paris Lee, RSAF Enfield. It is a bolt action rifle. It fires at a rate of 20-30 rounds per min with an effective range of 503 mtr and a maximum range of 2743 mtr. It is fed by a 10 round magazine. It was the main firearm used by the military force of British Empire and Commonwealth during 20 century. (Description from : As provided in the plaque with the gun) B. GRENADE LAUNCHER TK 40MM RPG Grenade Launcher TK 40MM RPG originated from the Soviet Union. It was designed by Bazalt and manufactured by Bazalt & Degtyarev Plant, which started its production in 1961. RPG (Ruchnoy Protivotan Koviy Granatomyot) means hand held anti-tank grenade launcher. It is a portable, reusable, unguided, shoulder launched anti- tank grenade launcher. (Description from : As provided in the plaque with the gun) C. BAZOOKA ROCKET LAUNCHER "Bazooka" name arose from its resemblance to musical Instrument-Bazooka.It was the first generation rocket-propelled anti-tank weapon used in Infantry combat. This weapon was the brainchild of Dr Robert Goddard of United States and saw the daylight under the guidance of Dr Clarence N Hickman. Its development involved two specific lines of technology, the rocket powered (recoil less) weapon and the shaped charge. (Description from : As provided in the plaque with the gun) D. Gun Machine Bren .303 in MK III ( Bren Machine Gun Mark III) Bren Machine Gun Mark III. It has a wooden stock and a pistol grip; the barrel and tripod are made of steel. It is fitted with a box magazine taking thirty rounds of ammunition. The calibre is .303in. The Bren Light Machine gun was introduced in 1937 and the Mark III version in 1944. Gun Magazine CAL 30 BROW (Browning 30 caliber Medium Machine Gun M1919) It was used by US military personnel in World War II. The gun was usually mounted on a tripod, and then positioned on military vehicles. It was referred as ".30 Cal" as becuase it shot the .30-06 round. It is an air-cooled machine gun, meaning the barrel cools down using fresh air, making the gun more lighter.It is recoil operated, meaning the gun uses recoil force to make the gun automatic. It is belt fed, meaning it uses bandolier strips as a "magazine". It could shoot around 550-600 Rounds per Minute (RPM).
