Description Middle East. 22 June 1943. An RAF instructor instructing a class of Turkish airmen on the operation of a gun turret. The gun turret has been removed from an aircraft and stripped so that the class may study the operation of the mechanism. These airmen will be qualified to give instruction to their comrades in Turkey when they have completed their course in the Middle East. Squadrons of the Turkish Air Force are being equipped with British aircraft of various types. Bombers and fighters are being sent to airfields in Turkey in increasing numbers. The aircraft are assembled on landing grounds in the Middle East and flown to their destinations by pilots of the Turkish Air Force. The pilots are given refresher courses at RAF training centres before they take over the aircraft.
