Summary edit
DescriptionGunston Hall from Garden.jpg |
English: The south front of Gunston Hall, seen from the garden. Gunston Hall was the home of George Mason (1725-1792), a large landowner. It was my favorite sightseeing attraction in Northern Virginia. Mason built it in 1755-1759, and played a role in designing it. It is more elaborate than Mount Vernon, particularly in interior design, furnishings, and garden. Mason was a statesman and American patriot at the time of the Revolutionary War and afterward. |
