Summary edit

Description
English: The Gurdon M. Wattles House, 393 Richmond Avenue at Lexington Avenue, Buffalo, New York, January 2020. Built in 1900, the most striking feature to be seen here are the sharp angles on the roof, where the shingle siding gable facing Richmond Avenue and the latticework in the dormer windows point to the Queen Anne style. Below that, the Colonial Revival style is exemplified on the portico by Ionic columns, a handsome balustrade, and a strict symmetrical design, but the Queen Anne style comes back to the forefront at the entrance itself, with leaded-glass tracery in the transom and side lights. Gurdon Moses Wattles (1846-1914) was a local real estate investor as well as co-founder, with his first wife Louise, of the Buffalo Butter and Egg Company. The house is now used as an Airbnb.
