Summary edit

Description
English: The Al Zubarah archaeological site in Qatar was inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2013. Once a thriving port, Al Zubarah’s cultural landscape is an outstanding example of socio-economic transformation. It sheds light on the urban trading and pearl diving traditions that sustained the major coastal towns of the region from the early Islamic period right up to the 20th century. This book explains the characteristics that make Al Zubarah unique, as well as ongoing efforts in site preservation, research and community engagement.
