English: HCVC Rally, 1978 In the centre is an RLH, the post-war lowbridge bus for London Transport, which was not built in large numbers, as not many routes needed lowbridge buses.
On the left is RT 3775. The RT and its variants, even more so than the Routemaster, can lay claim to being London's most successful bus ever. A few went into service before World War II, but after it, many thousands were built, both to allow withdrawal of older, worn-out buses and also for tram replacement all over South London. The later examples were still being built in the 1950s. |
