  • Significance: The main entrance road largely evolved from the earliest surveyed wagon route into the park (1907-1908) into a standard roadway as a result of NPS-BPR aesthetic and engineering collaboration. CCC contributions assisted in preserving the landscape qualities so that the road was built to lie "lightly on the land."
