Description
日本語: 現・名和昆虫博物館館長・名和哲夫氏によれば「ムカシヤンマ」をモデルにしている。元は名和博物昆虫研究所の玄関庇の上に取り付けられていた。「ムカシヤンマ」はかつて「ギフヤマトンボ｣と呼ばれており、世界でも日本にしか分布していない種で、ムカシヤンマを最初に採集して記載されるきっかけを作ったイギリス人のプライヤーは、名和靖がギフチョウを発見したときに，「日本ではまだ確認されていない種」と太鼓判を押した人物で，靖ともいっしょに昆虫採集に出かけるなど交流のあった人物であった。その造形は中胸背の特徴を捉えて正確であり、久田と名和靖との間で相当綿密な打ち合わせがあったことを伺わせ、久田吉之助の卓越した技術と真摯な取り組みを今に伝えている
