Rober Gardiner notes: Despite the date, the ship depicted is closer in detail to the 28 lost in 1778 than the 32 built in 1780, which emphasises the fact that the subjects of prints are often of a much earlier period than publication date would suggest. - See Navies and American Revolution,... p. 56.
