| Description | "S" Class (2nd Group) Submarine "HMS Sea Scout", 814 tons, launched 1944, surfacing in Devonport Dockyard during the Plymouth Navy Day, 08/61. Sea Scout was acting the part of a U-boat and was being fired on with blanks (allegedly) by the destroyer "HMS Decoy" on the right. Sea Scout suffered an unhappy end: she blew up, causes unknown, at "Giants' Grave", Ward's Scrapyard, Briton Ferry, South Wales in 1966, killing three men and injuring three. Scanned photograph taken with a simple Brownie 127, hence dubious quality. |
