The ship is designed largely for entertainment and events and is more of a simulacrum than replica. It is a full scale replica. It is not sea-going and cannot in any case get out of its section of the river. It is where it is because there is "some evidence" that James Cook may have sailed from Stockton. Note how the rear mast is significantly shorter than the others putting the 'crow's nest' at a different height to the others. This is believed to be a dimensional error on diagrams of the original vessel.
