Sustainable investments reportedly totalled US$35.3 trillion in 2020, highlighting how much more ESG criteria are driving investment. While taking a more holistic approach to sustainability is the only way to ensure our future, there are significant cost implications including the effects of taxation and inflation rates. From traveller demand to solvency and profitability ratios, it is clear that sustainable risk is financial risk. How is the sector adapting to these requirements and how are regulators and policy makers enabling this financial transition? What more is needed to ensure our sector’s profits are more than just financial?
