Summary
editLabels for Image:Haeckel Batrachia.jpg. Original is public domain {{PD-old}}, and this version I am oh so generously giving to the public domain also. Made with Inkscape and the GNU Image Manipulation Program.
It's crude, and I hope someone else does a better job with silhouettes or names around the borders or something. (You learn better when there's a closer association between image and text). But in the meantime it's more visible than the tiny labels on the Haeckel_frogs_with_labels.jpg
This is duplicated on en.wikipedia: Image:Haeckel frogs big spots.jpg (where you'll get proper blue/red links).

This work is in the public domain in its country of origin and other countries and areas where the copyright term is the author's life plus 70 years or fewer. You must also include a United States public domain tag to indicate why this work is in the public domain in the United States.
