| Description |
English: Halfway tram stop This is the terminus of a long line from Sheffield City Centre, which wanders about quite a bit before it ends here. The stop came into use in March 1995 and this photograph was taken in June of that year. Since then a park & ride facility has opened here, and also a bus interchange facility. Since the line opened patronage has increased, helped by further residential development near parts of it. However this end is not as busy as further on, and there is still, in 2009, a lot of underused capacity in the park & ride facility.
Just before the stop, the double tracks become a single track and this continues for a few yards beyond the stop. When the system opened this stop, and all others, had machines which issued tickets in exchange for cash. Since this photograph was taken these have been removed, because they were continually being removed or broken into. Today the trams carry conductors, who collect the fares. |
