English: Notes on an Alexander Henry Haliday insect specimen in the Hermann Loew collection at Museum für Naturkunde – Leibniz-Institut für Evolutions- und Biodiversitätsforschung an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
alpinus (Haliday, 1833) Catalogue of Diptera occurring about Holywood in Downshire. Entomological Magazine 1:163 NOTES Described as Medeterus alpinus from specimens taken at nearly 3000 ft. (1000m) on Sleibh Donard in Co. Down.The current placement is Campsicnemus The two specimens are lightly gummed on to oblong cards (Haliday glued and set (arranged) multiple specimens on a small sheet of card then cut out the single (occasionally two or three) specimens in various shapes according to the layout. These are oblongs. They are very neatly arranged.The long German pin is Halidays' own. The card with the star is Hermann Loew's, the star indicating a type specimen. One was chosen as the Lectotype the other as Typus and so-labelled by RN using Museum für Naturkunde coloured labels.No designation was made by agreement with Cutator Ziegler. |
