English: Hallsands hotel-gone! Hallsands Hotel was demolished in December 2006. It is to be replaced by several 3 storey houses which will each go on the market for about £250,000. Erosion?
The houses behind the digger, are now inhabited by bats, so can't be demolished as the bats are protected. The white buildings standing side on are four houses which were recently each sold for £27,000. There is a phenomenal vertical crack in the sea cliff below the houses, so who on earth has bought them? The answer is that at least two were bought 20 or more years ago for peanuts with a council demolition order hanging over them, (subsequently cancelled). So they have served as cheap holiday homes for many years, and if they collapse into the sea in future years it will have been money well spent! |
