Nederlands: Het monumentale pand dankt zijn naamgeving aan het feit dat er op deze locatie een voorburcht van het kasteel van Halsteren stond, welke een agrarische functie had. Tijdens de Franse belegering van Bergen op Zoom in 1747 werd de hoeve zwaar beschadigd en moest vrijwel geheel herbouwd worden. Na ongeveer vijf jaar in bezit van de Franse Republiek te zijn geweest, werd de hoeve verkocht aan de Bataafse Republiek. Daarna werd de hoeve tijdens een openbare veiling verkocht aan de voorm. pachter van de Hoeve
