Description
Deutsch: Von einem fiktiven Standpunkt aus (erhöht und in der Mitte des Rheins) geht der Blick links zum Ufer der Stadt Koblenz, beginnend mit den Zwillingstürmen der Liebfrauenkirche, über Kurfürstliches Schloss und Basilika St. Kastor bis hin zum Deutschherrenhaus. Als Gegengewicht dazu auf der rechten Seite der Ort Ehrenbreitstein mit der darüber liegenden gleichnamigen Festung, die zur Zeit der Entstehung des Bildes gerade neu erbaut und fertiggestellt wurde. Beide Orte sind verbunden durch die 1819 gebaute und heute nicht mehr vorhandene Schiffsbrücke, welche das Bild horizontal gliedert. Im Hintergrund die Rheininsel Niederwerth vor den dahinterliegenden Höhenzügen des Westerwaldes. Oberhalb der Insel ist das Klostergut Besselich zu sehen.
Das Bild gehört zu einer Serie von Rheinansichten um 1829
English: From a fictitious point of view (heightened and in the middle of the river Rhine) the view goes to the left bank of the city Koblenz, beginning with the twin towers of the church Liebfrauenkirche, over the castle Kurfürstliches Schloss and the Basilika Saint Castor up to the German-manor-house from the German Order. As counterweight to it on the right side the town Ehrenbreitstein with the fortress Ehrenbreitstein. Both points are connected by the 1819 built and today no longer existing ship bridge, which the picture in the horizontal structured. In the background the Rhine-Island Niederwerth in front of the hills of the Westerwald. Above the island the formerly monastery Besselich.
