Description
English: This is my own Hanster keyboard layout, an optimized English keyboard layout for ergonomic typing such as finger dexterity, trigrams, rolling, roll reversals, same finger usage, and disjointed same finger usage. I based this on the following penalties:
  • Finger dexterity (shorter pinky finger mostly curls to the bottom, long ring and middle fingers mostly stretch to the top)
  • Consecutive same finger usage (especially minimized movements that require longer distance)
  • Disjointed same finger usage (typing the first and last keys of a trigram with the same finger on a different key)
  • Lateral movement (penalize outward rolling beginning with a lateral movement)
  • Row jumps from top to bottom row (especially with the same or adjacent fingers)
  • Outward rolling from middle or ring to pinky
  • Roll reversals (one-handed trigram with a direction change), especially weak ones (without using the index finger or using the outside or center column)
