Español: Vista del pueblo de Ardales, en la actual provincia de Málaga (España), grabada por Daniel Meisner hacia 1623 y publicada en Nuremberg por Eberhard Kieser en los años sucesivos, hasta 1678.
Como todas las vistas de la obra de Meisner, se titula con una frase en latín, en este caso "Praestat Amittere Partem, Quam Totum. Hardales in Spanien" (Es preferible perder una parte que el todo. Ardales en España). Más abajo se lee en latín "Effugit insidias cum membra virilia castor" (Castor acosado, arrancándose su miembro viril que le estorba en su huida), que se corresponde con la escena de caza representada. Se ha interpretado esta escena como un mensaje de consolación para los protestantes derrotados por las fuerzas católicas durante la Guerra de los Treinta Años (A. Gámiz Gordo, 2008, pp.108-109). |
