Description
English: Looking north towards the Rock of Gibraltar from Harding's battery also known as Harding's Fort. The battery overlooks the Straits of Gibraltor and was named after Sir George Harding, who was Chief Engineer in 1844. It was constructed on part of the old 7th Europa Battery and in between the later 1st and 2nd Europa Batteries of 1859. The canon seen at the battery today is a 12.5 inch 25 ton RML gun which could fire 800 pound projectiles.
