Summary edit

Description
English: This photograph shows Harrogate Galleries and Museums Service’s Park Drag carriage.Judging by the yellow and blue sign with We(lcome to…Kw(ik Fit)? visible on the right,it appears this photo was taken in the 1990s while it was in storage at the Kwik Fit garage in York Place . The Park Drag was built in Harrogate in 1872 by Mackay and Fowler, whose coaches were built to be used as family vehicles. These carriages were known for their lightweight construction and had better manoeuvrability than stagecoaches.

From 1947 until circa 1988 the ‘Park Drag’ was housed at the Tolson Museum in Huddersfield and was donated to them by a private owner.Circa 1998,the carriage left Kwik Fit and in 2000 Harrogate museum’s received funding from the Science Museum and Yorkshire Museum’s Council to restore the vehicle.David A.C.Royle Co Ltd of Staindrop Co Durham carried out the work during 2000-1. It was exhibited a Skopos Mill Motor Museum in the early 2000s,but as of 2015,the coach is in secure storage.
