Summary edit

Description
English: Hatfield House Hatfield House was built between 1607 and 1611 for Robert Cecil, first Earl of Salisbury, and son of Lord Burghley, the chief minister of Queen Elizabeth I. Although Robert Cecil himself died in 1612 so was never able to enjoy the house his descendants have lived in it for the 400 years since. The main architect of the house was Robert Lemynge but Simon Basil, the Surveyor of the King’s Works, and Inigo Jones also contributed to the design. This is the north façade taken late in the afternoon after most of the visitors had left.
