Architect Hayati Tabanlıoğlu, an important architect of the new republic, was born in 1927. After graduating from İTU Archutectural Faculty in 1950, he worked as an assistant at ETH Zurich. He went on to receive a Ph.D., which focused on the design of opera and theater buildings, from Technical University Hannover. Tabanlıoğlu won many awards during his lifetime and is known for architecturally significant projects such as the Atatürk Cultural Center, Yeşilköy Airport International Terminal and the Ataköy Complex. Following his death in 1994 his personal papers and architectural documents were archived and they are now available for research at saltresearch.org

SALT Research, Hayati Tabanlıoğlu Archive

Türkiye’nin en önemli mimarlarından Hayati Tabanlıoğlu 1927’de Ankara’da doğdu. 1950’de İTÜ Mimarlık Fakültesi’nden mezun oldu, sonrasında bir süre ETH Zürih’te asistanlık yaptı. Opera ve tiyatro yapıları konulu doktorasını Hannover Teknik Üniversitesi’nde tamamladı. Atatürk Kültür Merkezi, Yeşilköy Havalimanı dış hatlar terminal binası ve Ataköy Kompleksi gibi önemli projelere imza atan ve çeşitli ödüller kazanan Tabanlıoğlu 1994’te hayatını kaybetti. Tabanlıoğlu’nun kişisel ve mimari belgelerinden oluşan arşivine saltresearch.org adresinden erişilebilir.
