Haystack at Jamestown |

Description |
The 1915-16 harvest led to record levels of wheat storage in South Australia's mid north. At Jamestown, an estimated 200 000 bags accumulated near the railyards in March 1916, drawing comments in the press (Daily Herald, 21 February, 1916, p4, 1 March 1916, p4, 8 June 1916 1916, p4). Large haystacks appeared in the area; one at nearby Georgetown was reportedly to be almost 3 000 tons (Areas' Express, 4 February 1916, p3). Microfiche incorrectly states 1910 (the date was 1916) |
