Summary edit

Description A massive cargo ship called the "MV TEAL" called on the Port of Savannah June 4, delivering four container cranes to the Georgia Ports Authority Garden City Ocean Terminal. Local officials closed the Talmadge Bridge while the vessel entered the port to ensure safe passage. The clearance between the bridge and the top of the ship was about 10 feet. The ship made it safely to the terminal and will stay there for about 14 days while GPA unloads the four cranes. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District is responsible for maintaining the authorized depth of the Savannah shipping channel, allowing large ships such as the MV Teal to pass safely to and from the port.
