IAEA's Historical Contribution to the Development of Women Scientists.

IAEA as an Inclusive Workplace

In 2020, the Agency adopted temporary special measures to achieve gender parity in professional positions by 2025. These measures aim to create the conditions for equal representation of women at all levels and in all Departments and encourage more women to apply for vacancies.

Despite recent increased attention to these topics, women scientists have always been part of the Agency’s workforce.

In this photo, Helga Axmann of the FAO/IAEA Soil Science Unit at Seibersdorf, near to Vienna, Austria analyses trace elements in plant material by a distillation method in 1964.
