Description

The first sight you have of Helsinki as you leave the Railway Station (I arrived on the night train from Moscow) is these colossi -two on either side of the entrance. The station's construction spanned 1904-1919- so this would be a kind of Modernism that prefigures Art Deco. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helsinki_Central_railway_station 

By its completion Finland was an independant state-
