Nederlands: Dr. Hendrik van Wijn (1740-1831) was geboren in Den Haag. Hij was een geschiedkundige, oudheidkundige en dichter. Hij werd bekend als medeoprichter van de Maatschappij der Nederlandse Letterkunde. In 1802 werd Van Wijn aangesteld als eerste “archivarius der Bataafse Republiek” en “archivarius van Holland”. Na de vorming van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden bleef hij in functie, in wat toen werd genoemd: het Nationaal Archief.
English: Dr. Hendrik van Wijn (1740-1831) was born in The Hague. He was a historian, antiquary and poet. He became known as co-founder of the Society of Dutch Literature. In 1802 he was appointed as the first "Archivarius of the Batavian Republic" and "Archivarius of Holland". After the formation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands he remained in office, in what was then called the National Archives.
Deutsch: Dr. Hendrik van Wijn (1740-1831) wurde in Den Haag geboren. Er war ein Historiker, Antiquar und Dichter. Er wurde als Mitbegründer der Gesellschaft der niederländischen Literatur bekannt. 1802 wurde er zum ersten "Archivarius der Batavischen Republik" und "Archivarius von Holland" ernannt. Nach der Entstehung des Königreichs der Niederlande blieb er im Amt, in dem, was damals das Nationalarchiv genannt wurde.

Il est devenu connu en tant que co-fondateur de la Société de la littérature néerlandaise. En 1802, il fut nommé premier Archivarius de la République de Batavie et Archivarius de Hollande. Après la formation du Royaume des Pays-Bas, il resta en fonction dans ce qu'on appelait alors les Archives nationales.
