Summary edit
DescriptionHermitage Castle, sort-of near Hawick - geograph.org.uk - 70145.jpg |
English: Hermitage Castle, sort-of near Hawick. Once owned by the Black Douglas family (a pretty tough lot). Earl of Bothwell (the Black Douglas of his generation) was the 3rd husband of Mary Queen of Scots - and reportedly had a hand in the death of her second husband. OK, it was a fairly dreich day I took this, but it doesn't really look any cheerier or more approachable on a lovely sunny day in June. |
