This title page is from the first Latin edition of Cortes’s second letter. Dated October 30, 1520, the letter was translated from Spanish into Latin by Petrus Savorgnanus and printed in Nuremberg, Germany, in 1524. Español: La Espléndida narración de Fernando Cortés acerca de la Nueva España del mar y el océano transmitida al más sagrado e invencible, siempre augusto Carlos, Emperador de los romanos, Rey de los españoles en el año del Señor 1520: Que contiene numerosas cosas dignas de conocimiento y admiración acerca de las excelentes ciudades de sus provincias... sobre todo acerca de la famosa ciudad de Temixtitan y sus varias maravillas, que complacerán maravillosamente al lector
Esta portada es de la primera edición en latín de la segunda carta de Cortés. Con fecha 30 de octubre de 1520, la carta fue traducida del español al latín por Petrus Savorgnanus y fue impresa en Nuremberg, Alemania, en 1524 Latina: Praeclara Ferdina[n]di.
