The Half Timbered House (Utrecht)

Summary

edit
Description
English: "The Half-timbered House This small house just fit between the already existing alleys. It is the only half-timbered house still recognizable in Utrecht, so named because it is supported by a wood construction. The wall filling between the rakes was made of wood or loam. or, as here, made of stone. Most of the medieval houses were (partly) made of wood. Due to a fire hazard, the wooden walls and facades were replaced by stone successors by order of the city council. This process of petrification lasted until the 18th century. The front facade is also from that time.
