Summary
editDescriptionHigh Lode, Ramsey - geograph.org.uk - 748518.jpg |
English: High Lode, Ramsey High Lode is a wide drainage channel that flows into the River Old Nene at Saunder's Bridge, a mile or so to the north. Beyond the culvert entrances seen here, its waters flow for a quarter of a mile or so beneath Great Whyte, one of Ramsey's main thoroughfares, and re-emerge just south of High Street. The section of watercourse between this point (known as Ramsey Docks) and its source near Wistow is called Bury Brook. Culverting was carried out between 1852-4 prior to which a navigable waterway existed beside Great Whyte. |
