Description
English: Here in 1849, Samuel Koontz, born 1814 in Northampton Co. Pa., Dammed clear Creek forming Koontz Lake.

He constructed a saw mill using water power, thus created. Both Dam and Mill were destroyed by flood in 1852 and again in 1858. Rebuilt as a flour mill it operated until about 1925. It was destroyed by fire in 1930.
