Les recherches scientifiques chèresà ce dernier, et notamment les recherches anatomiques, ne sont point son fait.Il ne la que trop prouvé dans ses raccourcis, dordinaire fort insuffisants etqui révèlent une connaissance assez superficielle du corps humain. Ne luidemandons pas non plus de peindre des sentiments violents, des scènes dra-matiques. Ses acteurs ou actrices, noblement drapés comme des statues antiques,perdraient tout leur charme sils se laissaient aller à quelque geste exagéré;il ne faut pas quils dérangent les plis si harmonieusement disposés d
