| Description |
English: Holding up the cliff! The cliffs of Liassic limestones and mudstones beneath the old lighthouse are prone to undercutting by the sea as they are all along this coast. Presumably in a effort to slow this erosion, the base of the cliffs has been bricked up. I missed this piece of handiwork at first as much of the coastal architecture here looks just that - architecture - with the straight lines and regular courses which this unusual geological deposit has left us. |
