| Description |
The Hole in the Wall restaurant is a unique establishment. It's located at the townsite of Shields, on the shore of Blackstrap Lake, in a former Texaco gas station. Owner and chef Nelson Urteaga, originally from Peru, opened in it 1982. Meals typically take 3 to 4 hours from start to finish, as all the ingredients are fresh and nothing is prepared in advance. The quality is exceptional and it is well worth the wait and expense. Update: Sadly, Nelson Urteaga died in July 2016. The Hole in the Wall immediately closed, but re-opened for one final month in December 2016. His daughter Pilar says it might re-open in Saskatoon, but the original location will be closed permanently. |
