Summary edit
DescriptionHole of Horcum - geograph.org.uk - 191960.jpg |
English: Hole of Horcum. This vast hollow is a quarter of a mile slice taken out of the surrounding moorland.Legend says that Giant Wade dug the earth out of the hollow with his hand and threw it at his wife; he missed , and the hill of Blakey Topping two miles to the east was formed. The land was in fact undermined by springs many thousands of years ago and the resulting debris was washed down Levisham Beck. |
