Впоследствии многие из этих пароходов , например "Вильгельм Густслов", "Штойбен" и др.использовались, как транспорты для перевозки войск или плавучие лазареты. . А в последние дни Райха - для эвакуации населения, и были потоплены с тысячами беженцев как военные суда, поскольку некоторые из них имели оборонительное противозенитное вооружение.
