Description Halina Silber was the guest speaker at Fort Meade's Holocaust Remembrance Day, held April 19 at McGill Training Center. Silber was 10 years old when the Nazis occupied her hometown of Krakow, Poland. Her life was spared due to the efforts of German industrialist Oskar Schindler. Silber worked in his factory from 1943 until liberation.
