Italiano: Ritratto di Omero del tipo "Epimenide" (il genere ritenuto più antico; questa è una copia romana di un originale greco del V secolo a.C., conservato presso la Glyptothek di Monaco). Omero reca un nastro che gli avvolge i capelli, ha gli occhi chiusi e sembra esperire un profondo stato contemplativo. Probabilmente Pausania (V, 26,2) si riferisce a questo genere di ritratto, relazionandolo al donario di Micito. L'atteggiamento ieratico del poeta ne denuncia la sacralità, mentre la cecità, come in Tiresia, ne indica le capacità sovrumane e il contatto con il divino, caratteristiche proprie dei cantori ispirati dalle dee Muse. |
