Summary edit
DescriptionHomewood, Sedgwick park - geograph.org.uk - 385709.jpg |
English: Homewood, Sedgwick park The ridge from Sedgwick park to Monk's gate was quarried for 'Horsham stone' a calcareous sandstone. Quarried around Horsham it was used for paving and roofing its surface showing the ripple marks from a long gone inland sea.
See 'Sussex Stones' by Roger Birch 2006. ISBN 0-9551259-0-1. The quarries in Home Wood have left an uneven surface filled with soil over the years. |
