Description
English: Engraved gravestone of a hoplite named Kygnonos sama in full military gear dating to the second half of the 6th century BC. Mounted on the lower side of the shield is the laiseion leather cap which protected the hoplite's feet from arrows. The gravestone was found in the Marmaroto necropolis on the western side of Kos town. Archeological museum of Kos.
