English: Letter presented a Christmas 1919 gift to Admiral William Sims, USN, president of the U.S. Naval War College from Rear Admiral Ronald A. Hopwood, RN, CB. Letter reads:
19 Dec Dear Admiral Sims, I am sending you a copy of my new book, especially with regard to the "Convoy" but I hope you will like some of the others. I believe you know my "Laws of the Navy." Also a copy of our new books, The Spirit of the Service, our common heritage. The ship is actually taken from the seal of the barons of one of the Cinq Ports. [then illegible to signature, pg 2] Ronald A. Hopwood, Rear Admiral "The barons of the Cinque (proper spelling) Ports" are discussed here. The left letterhead is "The Navy League 13, Victoria Street, S.W.1 as from 8, Eaton Terrace, London, SW1" The right letterhead is "Telephone: Victoria 8586 (2 lines) Telegram: Nautiform,Vic,London" |
