English: "An original albumen CDV sized acquired in 1864 by Captain Bruce Brine (Royal Engineers) of a young Tunisian Jewish girl while he would have been stationed on the island of Malta. The girl is wearing a traditional costume(?) The photograph come from an album compiled by Major General Bruce Brine of the Royal Engineers (1839-1914), who recorded with photographs most aspects of his work & family life - he also dated them. This is from his time in Malta c1860-1869. It is very likely that Bruce acquired this image, which is one of a series produced by Horatio Agius (1844-1910), a celebrated Maltese photographer of the period. The photograph (9.4 cms x 5.8 cms) is an original albumen print of CDV size pasted onto thickish album type paper. There is a small closed tear top right and there is slight discolouring here and there but the image remains vivid"
