Description
English: Horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) In the warm spring sunshine the young leaves have burst the protective shells of their buds. The horse chestnut is a deciduous tree the seeds, leaves, bark, and flowers of which have been used to treat a variety of conditions and diseases. During the two world wars, horse-chestnuts were used as a source of starch.It grows to a height of over 30 metres; in Britain the nuts are used for the popular children's game conkers.
