| Description | This Greek Revival-style house is probably one of the oldest in South Fairmount, dating to the early-to-mid 19th Century, when the Lick Run Valley was a series of small villages that were not yet a part of the city of Cincinnati. The house, like many of its age, has been covered in layers of aluminum siding, which has obscured some of its original details, but the simple massing, symmetrical facade, and lack of ornamentation make it clear that this house is an older Greek Revival-style house, rather than a later style. Today, these houses, like most of South Fairmount, are not protected by historic designation, and are in danger of being lost or destroyed, as there is very little concern for preservation of the charming architecture of the neighborhood, which includes some of the oldest houses in the city. |
